Helping Hand

“God, I’m trying.” 3 simple words was all it took for a feeling of relief. Once I said those words, it was almost as if I could feel a breakthrough coming-I instantly felt peace and my tears dried up. This is all God wants- a desperate soul, the one that cries for help. A heart that admits to the needing of Christ.

Crying out to God shouldn’t make us feel ashamed and our pride also shouldn’t get in the way. Why do some people act like they don’t need God? It's simply because they don’t know Him. Getting closer to God gives you full access to His help and also gives you comfortability to ask for even the littlest thing possible. I always try to imagine God running to me everytime I call for help, because that's how much I know He loves me. May have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ (Ephesians 3:18).

It’s amazing how we can let our ego dictate our life. We want to figure everything out on our own, when we literally have Jesus who already has it figured out for us. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalms 139:16).

Asking for help doesn’t make you weak (whether it's spiritually or naturally)- sometimes that cry out is what your soul needs. Some people would rather struggle, than to let anyone know that they need a helping hand. Ask God the questions that you need to know, tell Him how you feel-it's ok to allow yourself to be in that vulnerable state-even Jesus cried out: And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”) (Mark 15:34). Cry and pray about your situation more than once too! Don’t feel bad for constantly crying out over the same thing. Even in Matthew 26:39-43 Jesus prayed the same thing THREE times- “if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Once you admit to God that you need help and seek His guidance, you will eventually see His hand moving. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7). God doesn’t want people who are prideful or selfish. He wants people who will depend on Him-who have that ounce of faith and will proudly show that. We all have weak moments that can be uplifted by a strong God. It’s in those moments where strength is provided within ourselves. Every prayer may not be answered but God can see the effort of you reaching out to Him and He will acknowledge that. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry (Exodus 22:23).

Even in feelings of anger or frustration, still choose to cry out to God. God knows all about everything you’re going through, He cares about your concerns just as much as you do. Don’t let flesh get in the way of what could be your breakthrough. Don't take for granted what God can provide for you.

God can bring the change you need, for He is your helping hand.

Psalms 34:17- The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Psalms 55:16-17- As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.

Psalms 22:24- For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.
