Want More?

Have you ever felt stuck? Not really progressing but not necessarily going backwards either? Have you ever wanted something that you just couldn’t quite grasp it spiritually? I believe God pulls us in these areas to show us who we are. To build us up, to mold us and define our character.

We should also want more spiritually-more faith, more hope, more belief. No matter if we feel stuck or not progressing, continue to want more of God. The more you want God, the better individual you will be. I’ve recently had to ask God to give me more faith over a situation and I can guarantee that He answered my prayer and I got more than what I started with.

See, the enemy doesn’t want you to progress. He wants you to stay stuck and never take hold of what is for you. There is a part in a Marvin Sapp song (I Believe) where he says, “The only reason the devil is hitting you like he’s hitting you is because he has literally peeked into your future and sees what God is about to bring to you!” I've always thought this verse was powerful because it’s true! Even the enemy knows your potential. You have to want that same potential and all God has for you. Fight and claim to get what’s yours. Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by actions, is dead (James 2:17). Things just don’t happen on its own- God can give you what you really need if you work with Him. You have to put in the spiritual time and energy. Everyday you should wake up looking forward to what opportunities God may have come your way. All odds may be against you at the moment, but want and expect something different for yourself! How can God bless you when you are dead inside spiritually? With no belief? But when you ask, you must believe and do not doubt because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind (James 1:6).

Where is the eagerness we have when we know we’re about to go do something we enjoy? Do we have that same eagerness when seeking God? Or do we stay in a slump or our own contentment? Like newborn babies, CRAVE SPIRITUAL MILK so that by it you may grow up in your salvation (I Peter 2:2).

Sometimes we’re not in a place we want to be because there is still a lot of growing and pruning we have to go through but we have to allow ourselves to go through the process. Struggle is a part of growth. You may not understand it all, but in the end it’s worth it-this is what I always have to remind myself. God is placing me in this position for a reason and the only way I can get through it is through Him. The deeper I grow in God, the more I learn about myself and the more I see of what He is allowing me to walk in. The more I want God, the more I see things change in me and around me. Wanting more of Him means needing Him more. God wants you to depend on Him for that’s who He is.

It’s easy to give up, it’s easy to stay where you are and it’s easy to say “the less work the better” but it is more beneficial to want more. In those moments it's even more beneficial to say, “I need you God!” To want more of God brings power, breakthrough, healing, deliverance and so much more. It can even bring the answer to your prayer! To get more of God starts with the belief that you have Him in your heart to begin with. Once you find Him, you can grow if you fully let Him in.

So now my question for you is, when was the last time you said, “God I want more of you?”
