Shining Light
Updated: Oct 30, 2024
Reminder: God is the light in the darkness and since He is inside of me, I should let that light shine also!
There is sin and chaos all around but we can be the light that someone needs in their life to get it right. In

the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). You never know why certain people are placed in your life or how long they will be there. God has placed a gift inside of you that needs to be shared. There is so much sin in the world- adultery, anger, killings, abuse, fighting-so many spiritual battles happening right in front of us. It's in schools, work, relationships, even in our homes. You never know what people are truly dealing with on the inside. All it takes is one ounce of love, one act of kindness,a helping hand or a listening ear to make a difference.
Let your light shine but also don’t let anyone dim your light either. Don’t let someone else’s attitude or selfish ways allow you to react the same. Share the light but guard it with your heart. Show others who you are and the God who lives inside of you. I thrive on helping people and I know that’s the gift that God has blessed me with. Of course we can’t change the world, but we can impact those closest to us. Sometimes it's our own friends and family who need a healing touch. Sometimes it may be a coworker, a classmate, someone on social media-you just never know who may be watching you or who you may have impacted. Be mindful and considerate-no one has a perfect life, we all are going through battles or have been through one.
Ask God how you can show up for someone or to show you the person or situation that needs your help. The world is truly in darkness but Jesus’ light outshines the darkness. Some people may actually be more drawn to you because you’re walking in His light and then others may be drawn away. Either way, don’t hold back the potential or gift that God has placed inside of you. We all have gifts, but it's up to us if and how we use them. We can’t be fearful of how others will perceive us or if we’re “qualified”. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). He knows what we can handle. You are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), you are His vessel. Be a representation of who He called you to be. Don't hide in the shadows, be a light that shines so bright others have no choice but to see.
Ephesians 5:8 For you once were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
John 12:36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light
Matthew 6:22 The only source of light for the body is the eye. If you look at people and want to help them, you will be full of light (ERV)
