What do you see when you look in the mirror?
As I sit back and reflect on my life, I can feel different emotions- a sense of peace, gratitude, trials, tribulations, highs, lows, joys, problems, solutions- a little bit of everything. This life can be like a rollercoaster, however it can so beautiful that it becomes overwhelming. Even in the midst of a million things that may go through my mind, God always reels me back in to recognize the glory that He has set before me. Just like the song lyrics say, "As I look back over my life and think things over, I can truly say that I've been blessed. I've got a testimony!" The reflection of your life is your testimony. All you've been through-no matter what it was is a result of God's mercy and grace. It's intriguing to know that things just don't stop where you are right now. Many of us know the Jeremiah 29:11 scripture- "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." So to know more is coming is truly inspiring and hopeful.
Sometimes when we get down, we tend to forget how good we truly have it. Gratitude goes a long way. There have been times when God had to snap me back to reality to remember who He is and what He has done. Just like in Matthew 16:1-12-Jesus had to remind the disciples to look at the signs of the present moment versus them always asking him to show them a sign- especially when he proved who He was when he fed thousands of people with little amounts of food. We have to recognize the signs of now. God is moving now and always goes before us. Its simple-God is good AT ALL TIMES, not just in our happy moments. Even in the rough patches God can give you life back- "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
Looking at your life you may even feel like it's too late, too soon or you're too far away from God. Trust me, there is no better time than now to get right with God, because you never know what tomorrow holds. You don't want to sit back and think, "Wow, this was all for nothing." With God there will always be purpose. We are living to live again. This life we live is God's will. I can't wait to see everything unfold for me-you should too.
I encourage you to take time to reflect over your life. God didn't bring you this far for no reason. Its growth when we can acknowledge where we have been and still see God's glory and goodness. Be proud of that growth. Make the necessary changes if needed and trust God along the way.
Consider where you are and the path you are going. Have you been sticking with God or doing your own thing? Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).
