Perfect Love

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
1 John 4:18
Our love is made perfect because as He is, so are we. So if we say we dwell in Him and God in us then why do we have fear? We have perfect love so we don’t need to fear. His perfect love overrules everything in our life. God in all his entirety is love. Love, power, healing are only some of the attributes he embodies. Fear is not in godly vocabulary. Fear can be used as a distraction to what God has for you.
God will place you in situations to drive the fear out of you. This doesn’t feel good because it may be scary situations, but this is why we should live by the scripture, We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
It’s His will we should want, not our own. This is easier said than done, but this what God desires for us. If we live in fear how can we truly experience love? We will never grow if we continue to let our fears keep us stagnant. However we can remember, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
(Romans 8:26). God fights for us! This alone should help drive out your fear. God fights against the enemy for us which is another example of his perfect love.
“Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?” (Isaiah 43:13). Who or what is going to be able to stop anything coming from God’s hands? “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). Nothing is going to get in between his perfect love and you. Even though at times it may feel like you’re not doing things right or you fell off, He still loves you. He still sees you and acknowledges you.
He still cares for you, cherishes you and redeems you. He does things for us simply because that’s just who He is. We have done nothing to deserve the love He gives. Yes, he can bless us with tangible rewards but his love cannot compare to any materialistic item. No one else can give you that perfect love . People will fail you but God never will. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8).
“Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, Nor suffer my faithfulness to fail” (Psalm 89:33).
However, In the midst of everything you go through, if all you had was His perfect love, would you be satisfied? Has your love for Him stayed the same? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:47). God loves us with such a love that will never change. However, we change on Him constantly. We say we love Him but our actions, thoughts, speech and behaviors towards others say otherwise. “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?”
(1 John 4:20). We are made perfect in love so let us be the best representation of that.
“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:16).
