Obedience
Who and what are you obedient too? If God told you right now to sacrifice the most important thing in your life, would you do it? This is a question that I often ask myself and will continuously ask. If your answer is "no" or "I don't know", don't feel bad because that answer can change with discipline of the mind. You might say "I can give up ______ but I WON'T give up _______" , but honestly God doesn't work like that. God wants ALL of you, not some of you. For example, when I was starting this blog, God gave me this idea awhile ago but I held it off due to "excuses", when in reality I was holding my own self back.
When God tells you to do something, why not obey? What's hindering you? People or yourself? What do you care more about- other's judgement or God's? Why is it so easy for us to be obedient at work, school, in relationships, etc. but when it comes to our spiritual journey, it becomes so difficult? I believe its because of control. We're so scared of putting everything in God's hands. Granted, I get like that at times as well. I remember I used to allow my anxiety to get so bad all because I wanted to know the future plans God had for me right away. In those moments we have to remember the God we serve will NOT fail us. God knows the exact steps of our life. Whatever God has planned for you will be a good thing. We tend to put all our trust in people, but people disappoint us all the time. I'd rather be obedient to a sovereign God than give my all to a person who may take me for granted.
When God speaks in your life, trust the path He takes you on. The most important thing is that you answer His call. He could be telling you to do a small or big task, but it could very well be your blessing. Be obedient because you are willing to do whatever pleases God, not because you're LOOKING for a reward. Your obedience could be a blessing or an influence on someone else's life. Don't think about your insecurities and doubts because with God, you are already successful.
Take some time out of your day and read Genesis 22. This passage represents obedience, no matter the cost!
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love, who have been called according to his purpose.
Deuteronomy 30:16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
