A short story.
Feeling defeated, Dave walked out of the warehouse in shock of what just happened. Several others, including Dave were laid off due to budget cuts. As Dave sat in the car, he said out loud, "God, I trust you but why did this have to happen to me? I can already see the big fat eviction notice on my door once my rent is behind!" Dave buried his face in his hands asking, "What am I supposed to do, where am I supposed to go?" On the drive home and all through the night, Dave was in disbelief over what happened.
The next morning when Dave woke up for church, all He could think about was the job loss. He even pondered, "I thought the job was a blessing and even a way for me to work my way up, but it just got snatched from me-I was so happy there." Dave knew attending church would boost his mood, so he cleared his mind for the time being and headed out.
Little did he know that the sermon would speak right to him. The pastor's sermon was about trusting the Lord in the unknown. He used the example of a GPS system for navigation. The GPS will get us to the location that we desire, just like (G)od is our (p)ersonal navigation (s)ystem that will get us to our true desires-which ultimately is His desire for us. (Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart-Psalms 37:4). Just like a GPS can show you the quickest route, traffic, detours and even reroute-God can and will get you to where you need to be no matter what may occur along the way. There are times when we get frustrated when we have to sit in traffic or take a detour, but we trust that we will get there. The end goal is that we keep moving forward with God leading the way. Dave knew this message was meant for him and it couldn't have came at a better time! He left out of church feeling so uplifted and blessed because God was simply reminding him how everything will work out. He didn't know how, but was content in the unknown because of his trust in the Lord.

Dave was able to get another job that was fairly decent, but it was not as good as the warehouse job. Overall Dave was thankful, but his true desire was to return to the warehouse if it was God's will.
Six months later, Dave received an phone call. "Hello?" Dave answered. "Hello Dave, this is Nick from the Westco warehouse. To my knowledge, you were here a few months ago as a warehouse stocker. I came across your employee file and decided to give you a call. We actually have a position open for a new lead operations manager. Training will be provided accordingly. Would you be interested?" All Dave could do was smile and look up toward the sky and say, "Thank you Jesus."
Even when we don't know where we're going, what to do or what the future holds- God sees all. God hears and knows exactly what we're going through. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6)-He controls our destiny. He navigates and coordinates everything that happens in our life. It's how we wait which is the true test. All He asks from us is to wait patiently, trust and sit with expectation for bigger and better.
Psalms 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry
Psalms 34:8-9 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing
Psalms 34: 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit
Jeremiah 17:7 But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
