I was riding in the car listening to this song by Maverick city and I looked up in the sky and saw a beautiful image. The sun was out but behind the clouds - the suns rays were stretching out in this illuminating glow.
“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;”
(Psalm 8:3). It makes you reminisce on how God makes everything beautiful. His Word, His creations , His promises-they are all beautiful. I can’t even fathom what my world would be like without him . To know him is too love him. To love him is to be with him and to recognize His goodness in ways beyond the natural eyes.
I can rejoice because of his goodness. Every situation I fall in is temporary because of his promise. A promise to rescue and deliver me-“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him” (Psalm 91:15). A promise of protection -“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust; His truth shall be thy shield and buckler” (Psalm 91:4). A promise of peace and rest- “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”(John 14:27). “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls”(Matthew 11:29). The promise of “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed”(Deuteronomy 31:8). These are only a few of the main ones He promises, for there are so much more. In Jesus you have abundance of life, which means an abundance of promises.
We also have to remember that what He promises you will surely come to pass. When the time comes for the promise to activate, it surely will. “God is not a man, that he should lie; Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”(Numbers 23:19). Therefore He is good in this aspect as well. Just like the natural man , they can lie and deceive those around them- which in result can make them a “bad” person. However, God who is a spiritual being cannot lie or deceive us, therefore we know this will always be a form of His goodness shown to us.
Just like the saying, “God is good all the time and all the time God is good. There is no time that’s He’s not good. Even in the bad times, He is still good. Nothing will take that away from Him. This is the type of God we serve. “And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,” (Exodus 34:6).
2 Samuel 7:28-And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:”
Psalm 107:31 -Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!”
Psalm 107:31
2 Thessalonians 1:11- Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power
Psalm 31:19- Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; Which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!”
