Confidence

Shame. Guilt. Insecure. Comparisons. Overlooked. Disqualified. Weak. Unacceptable. Unattractive. Broken. Hurt. Neglected. Blame. Mistake… The list can go on and on if some of us truly shows what plays in our mind. This is what the enemy does- he plays these mind games to make us believe that these things are who we are. Then it turns into us thinking that these are also what others see about us. It may not even be daily thoughts, but sometimes all it takes is that one moment that opens the door to negativity. But what does the Word say? I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well (Psalms 139:14). God makes all things wonderful and we are all a part of that.
In those moments when those thoughts come in, you have to truly ask, “What’s really making me feel like this?” Because if it's just one bad moment, honestly you’re going to have more of those. We can’t let bad moments define who we are. It's a guarantee in this life that you will have ups as well as downs. We most certainly can’t let people define who we are. The enemy will pin people against you to bring you down. Even the enemy knows who you are in Christ, but he doesn’t want you to know. Only God can define you because He made you. What He says about you is what you should believe about yourself. God doesn’t make mistakes, so who you were born to be is exactly who you’re supposed to be. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb (Psalms 139:13).
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him (Jeremiah 1:17). God has granted us a godly confidence, simply because of who he is. By us living through Him, there should be nothing or nobody that can tear us down. So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6). I know you might think, “But my thoughts are so intrusive” “I could do/be better at..” “If I was just more..” We have to stop beating ourselves up so much and release those inner critics. How can we utilize our godly confidence if we don’t bring it forth? We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Yes, as humans we mess up from time to time, but those “mess ups” don’t define us. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession (1 Peter 2:9.) We are defined as so many things according to God’s word- we are His sons and daughters. A child can be precious to us as humans, so imagine how even more precious we are to God!
See yourself through the lens of God. God doesn’t want you believing or calling yourself anything but His. Think and speak positively about yourself. God cares so much for you- I can imagine how much it pains him when we don’t treat ourselves the way we should. Why is it so hard for us to see ourselves the way he does? Because it starts within- you have to believe and accept who God made you to be. God made us who we are for a reason and He made us with a plan in mind. So we walk in confidence knowing that we are God’s children, and there is no better place to be.
Ephesians 3:18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ
Psalms 139: 15-16 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be
1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him
Psalms 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing
