Accountability

2024 is the year of accountability. I want to become stronger in this new year and I want to hold myself accountable for leaving things in God’s hands. We may not be able to say we’re going to be accountable to not worry or stress, but what you do with that worry and stress can be changed. Situations may arise but I can hold on to God’s words. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise (Hebrews 10:23). I pray for us all to have more hope, more praise, more strength, more faith, more belief and more Jesus this year.
We all want something different to happen for us in 2024, but we must hold ourselves accountable to do our part as well. We can’t get slack or give up in this race. Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!
(1 Corinthians 9:24). We have to look at our motives also- are we only wanting different to fulfill our selfish reasons or do we want to fulfill God’s will?
We also can’t wait for other people to say or do stuff for us. Hold yourself accountable and get it for yourself!
Let’s take a look at Paul and Silas’ story (Acts 16, 17). Two very devoted teachers which God called to do a very special work. They traveled from town to town delivering the word. They came in contact with people trying to prevent them from speaking, mobs, slandering, stoning, attacks, beatings and even being thrown in jail. All due to these two staying accountable to the task, no matter the dangers or circumstances, God protected and helped them. Nothing stopped them! Even in jail, they prayed and sang songs (which is still spreading news about Jesus) and Jesus broke open the doors of the prison. Due to their accountability, many people became believers. If we want change, we have to fight for it, despite it all. The enemy is for sure going to fight for the change not to come but Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).
Once you hold yourself accountable- God sees the effort and things start to shift for you. Believing is accountability too- you choose how you handle things. Its up to us-either we stay stuck or believe in what God says. I don’t want to keep going around in the same patterns as in 2023- I am determined to break the cycle in 2024! However that needs to be done can be revealed by God- he can show you the way. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:6). Take this to heart and know He will never leave nor forsake you. If we want to be better, we have to do better. We know that we can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us! Nothing should stop us or get in the way because God is on our side.
Now all glory to God who is able through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think- Ephesians 3:20
Philippians 3:14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling us
2 Timothy 4:8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in the word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
