Rest

Talking to God is literally one of my favorite things to do-all day, every day. I talk to God like He’s one of my friends! So during one of our conversations I told him, “Please God, I don’t want to be heartbroken,” and you know what He said back to me? He said, “How is your heart going to be broken when I have your heart?” That literally brought tears to my eyes to know that God will truly save me from having a broken heart-whether it's caused by people, failed dreams, unanswered prayers, tragedy, etc- God is there to mend broken pieces. He’s there to block any hindrance that may damage my soul and that makes me feel so good inside.

Another thing God has recently told me was, “You ask me all these questions and have all these concerns about your life, do you not know how much you mean to me? Trust in my word. Rest in my promises.”

I can admit that sometimes I lose sight of who I am. To be honest, I’m sure we’ve all hit a stumbling block in our life that made us lose focus on ourselves. Our situation may have hit so hard that we forget who we are and don’t even realize it. When you serve God, He is always there to remind you of who you are and who He is. You are not your financial issue, your relationship status, your medical issue, your grief, your job, your depression, your struggle, despair or sadness- YOU ARE NOT YOUR SITUATION. You are a child of God, you are loved, you are chosen, you are accepted, you are the OPPOSITE of what you're going through. You have a God who constantly reminds you that you are more than just flesh and bones. Yes, in life we struggle, we go through hardships but it's for a reason. Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory (Romans 8:17).

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14). This scripture alone can help when you feel yourself dwelling on what’s bothering you too much. God can literally give you the peace you need. Present your requests to God and leave them there. God loves and cares about you too much for you to be lost. The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned (Psalms 34:22).

Try not to worry or fret over things so much. I am guilty of doing this as well but I have to remind myself- “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalms 139:14). I serve a God who can take care of all things, big and small. If I show confidence then that shows God that I trust in Him. I will not dwell in the negative, I will REST in the positive which is Jesus Christ.

Psalms 116:7- Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.

Matthew 11:28- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:29- Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Sometimes I can get in my head about if I’m truly doing enough. Or sometimes I’ll wonder if I’m doing too much. The truth of the matter is, there is probably never too much that you can do in God. He
